My deep respect and sympathy to the people of Christchurch in their lasting grief.
Today I heard of a poet called Rhys Brookbanks who was killed in the earthquake. David Howard wrote, 'At 25 he had hardly started to write and now words are beyond him, even if he is not beyond words.'
possibly i am not seeing it -- but does our poet laureate have something/anything to say about what has happened in this country in the past few days?

Rhys was a great poet, and a great man. He would have grown to be so much more.
